GAT Substation, Grimsby

Completed January 2024 on behalf of Integrum Power Engineering at Immingham & Grimsby Docks

Working in partnership with Integrum Power Engineering, we delivered a comprehensive package of civil and structural works as part of essential power supply upgrades at Immingham and Grimsby Docks.

The works formed part of the infrastructure required to support new and upgraded electrical equipment, with our team responsible for delivering the associated structural, groundworks and building elements.

The Challenge

Working within an operational dock environment required careful planning and coordination to ensure the works could be delivered safely and efficiently while maintaining the required programme and quality standards.

The project incorporated several disciplines within a single package, from structural design and excavation through to reinforced concrete foundations, HV ducting and the construction of the finished substation structure.

Our Solution

Our team managed and delivered the civil and structural package from the initial groundworks through to the completion of the structure.

The works included:

  • Structural design

  • Reduced-level excavation

  • Reinforcement installation

  • Reinforced concrete foundations

  • HV ducting

  • Masonry and blockwork

  • Roof structures

By coordinating the different elements of the works as one package, we were able to maintain continuity throughout the project and work closely with Integrum Power Engineering to meet the requirements of the wider electrical installation.

Project Outcome

The works were successfully completed, providing the robust civil and structural infrastructure required to support the upgraded power supply at Immingham and Grimsby Docks.

The GAT Substation project demonstrates our ability to deliver complete civil engineering packages for the power and utilities sector, combining structural design, groundworks, reinforced concrete construction, HV infrastructure and building works within challenging operational environments.
